Consultant Paediatrician – Gastroenterology, Allergy & General Paediatrics

Dr Arindam Das is a Consultant Paediatrician with specialist expertise in paediatric gastroenterology, allergy and general paediatrics.


Following his undergraduate and postgraduate training in India, he completed higher specialist paediatric training in Cambridge, London and the East of England before being appointed as an NHS Consultant.
 

Dr Das brings an international perspective to paediatric practice, combining academic excellence with practical, evidence-based solutions for clinicians working in busy frontline settings. An internationally recognised clinician, researcher and educator, Dr Das has received numerous academic awards and gold medals throughout his career, including the prestigious Young Investigator Award from the European Society for Paediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition (ESPGHAN).

He has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, presented at national and international conferences, and continues to contribute to research, guideline development and quality improvement projects that advance paediatric care. 
Medical education is one of Dr Das’s greatest passions. He teaches widely for the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health, delivers national educational webinars, lectures on postgraduate paediatric courses, and is actively involved in MRCPCH teaching. He is also a NLS instructor and has directed regional MRCPCH mock examinations and is committed to developing the next generation of paediatricians.

 

His engaging, practical teaching style is recognised for making complex paediatric topics accessible, clinically relevant and immediately applicable to everyday practice.

Alongside his clinical work, Dr Das serves on regional and national advisory groups, including the National Motility Group for Children, and represents paediatrics on the Mid and South Essex Medicines Optimisation Committee. His specialist interests include paediatric critical care, paediatric gastroenterology, food allergy, infant feeding disorders and functional gastrointestinal disorders. Above all, he is passionate about improving outcomes for children through compassionate, family-centred care and by equipping healthcare professionals with knowledge they can confidently apply in clinical practice.
